Mary Moody Northen Theatre Programs
1972-Present
St. Edward's University's Mary Moody Northen Theatre opened its doors in 1972. The building itself and the theater arts major were largely shaped by the visions of Br. Dunstan Bowles and Edward Mangum. MMNT provides opportunities for students to work side-by-side with practicing professional theater artists as one of the few undergraduate theaters in the country operating a full season in association with Actors’ Equity Association, the labor union representing American actors and stage managers in the theatre. This affiliation provides students with professional mentoring opportunities and points toward union membership while challenging them to work at the highest level. In its 50 year history, the stage has seen performances by Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Sonny Bono, Mercedes McCambridge, Jackie Coogan, Tim Russ, Tyler Mount and many other stars of the past, present, and future.
