Life and Disability Insurance

Description
  • For Faculty, Staff, Former Employee/Retiree

St. Edward's University provides Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance and Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage to all benefits-eligible staff and faculty employees at no cost.

Life insurance pays benefits if you die from most causes. AD&D benefits are paid if your death is accidental or if you are severely injured in an accident and suffer a loss specified in the policy, such as loss of a limb or eyesight.

In addition to Basic Life and AD&D, you may purchase supplemental life insurance and AD&D for yourself and/or your dependents.  The Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form applies when enrolling in life insurance outside of new hire enrollment and/or when requesting an increase in coverage.

Long Term Disability coverage provides a source of income if you experience a long-term illness or injury that prevents you from working.

The optional Short Term Disability insurance plan provides income replacement for a short-term illness or injury that prevents you from working. This cost of coverage is paid by the employee.
